Act II: No Gods, No Masters

Faroud al-Abin

CHAPTER 9:
Equity and trust

The Adarian Protectorate has sustained a mortal wound. The arcane forces that were the lifeblood of the society have been critically destabilised: Faroud's ritual magics, which were once used imprisoned a dragon, have been unleashed across the entire continent. Unpredictable tides of dispelling energies spill over Adar; airships fall from the sky, communication collapses, napthic trains fall from their tracks. This woeful cataclysm was designed to strike at the mechanisms of government, but has nevertheless also caused a tremendous loss of life. This is a necessary tragedy if the people of this world are ever to know freedom, or peace.

The 13th have chosen to fight for the forces of freedom, and are at the heart of that action. They are now of the Anasazi, heya, and will be of the people for as long as they live. No longer the 13th Focrce, but the 13th of Faroud's children. Their work, however, is far from finished. This is not the end, but the beginning .

They are needed now. The Adarian Protectorate was the most dangerous form of empire: a fair one, a just one, one ruled by a wise and good man with no thirst for power. As such it had to die first. But to the north, another empire still stands, one far more grotesque and cruel. It cannot be allowed to survive, or worse, to feast on the corpse of its fallen neighbour.

The 13th must travel deep into Reidra strike at the psionic network that powers the Inspired domain. The Guardians will fight alongside them. And one by one the towers of a monstrous empire will tumble.

CHAPTER 10:
